On any given day at LaMa Animal Rescue, the sounds of barking dogs and mewing kittens are met with the determined footsteps of a small group of volunteers doing everything they can to provide love, safety, and care to over 70 animals. But the truth is, they can’t keep up—not alone.
LaMa is in desperate need of volunteers. Not for massive commitments or endless hours, but for something simple and impactful: just a few hours a week. Those few hours could mean a dog gets walked, a kennel gets cleaned, a sick puppy gets medication, or a frightened cat finally gets a gentle hand to comfort them.
This isn’t just about animals—it’s about our community.
Webster Parish is grappling with an overwhelming number of abandoned, hungry, and sick animals. Without volunteers, LaMa cannot continue to take them in. And if LaMa is forced to pause or stop intake, those animals don’t disappear. They end up roaming the streets, at risk of being hit, abused, neglected, or left to starve. They become a danger to themselves and, potentially, to the public.
We cannot allow that to happen.
LaMa isn’t a large organization backed by big money. We are a small, local rescue fueled by the passion of a few dedicated individuals—and right now, that simply isn’t enough.
The ask is simple: Will you be one of 12 new volunteers to step up for your community?
We’re setting a goal of just 12 people—12 compassionate, reliable members of our community who can give 2–6 hours a week. That time could be spent walking dogs, helping with feeding, doing laundry, or simply offering a little affection to animals who’ve never known kindness.
