A Baker man was arrested late Monday night on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license following a crash on Old Shreveport Road at U.S. 80, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers responded at about 10:10 PM August 11 to assist Minden Police with a single-vehicle crash involving a possible intoxicated driver. The driver, identified as Jason James Ashley, 37, showed signs of impairment, including slurred speech and repeating himself, troopers said.
Ashley admitted to drinking alcohol at a truck stop casino prior to driving, according to the report. He voluntarily performed standardized field sobriety tests and performed poorly.
Dispatch confirmed Ashley’s Louisiana driver’s license was suspended. He was arrested at about 10:34 PM and transported to Minden Police Department, where a breath test registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.170%, troopers said.
Ashley was booked on charges of DWI (second offense) and driving under suspension.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
