Two men were arrested Monday after fleeing a theft at Walmart and being found with drugs and paraphernalia during a traffic stop, according to the Minden Police Department.
Officers responded to Walmart on Homer Road around 6:27 PM on September 1 after dispatch reported two suspects leaving the parking lot in a gray Ford F-150. Police said the truck, driven by 42-year-old George Pruitt of Logansport, was spotted driving recklessly as it exited the lot.
A traffic stop was conducted at Homer Road and Highway 531. The passenger, 29-year-old Andrew Harvey of Bossier City, was found to have multiple active warrants, including two counts of felony theft and six counts of misdemeanor theft through the Minden Police Department, as well as an outstanding warrant through Bossier City police. He was taken into custody without incident.
Police said Pruitt assisted Harvey in bagging items and pushing a cart out of the store during the theft. He was also taken into custody at the scene.
During an inventory of the truck, officers reported finding three loaded syringes containing suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale, three unused syringes, and a Gerber case with a bag of crystal substance that tested positive as meth. Both suspects denied ownership of the items.
Pruitt was charged with felony theft, possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, and reckless operation of a vehicle.
Harvey was charged with felony theft, possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, being a fugitive from Bossier City, and on warrants for two counts of felony theft and six counts of misdemeanor theft.
Both were booked at the Minden Police Department and later transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
