High school basketball: Minden girls advance to semifinals of Don Stahl Memorial Tournament

The Minden Lady Tiders advanced to the semifinals of the 31st annual Don Stahl Invitational Tournament Thursday with a 69-41 victory over Ringgold.

Minden faces Lakeside Friday at 5 p.m. Arcadia defeated Northwood 48-39 in a quarterfinal game. The Lady Hornets take on Gibsland-Coleman in the other semifinal Friday at 3:45.

The defending champion Minden boys lost to Gibsland-Coleman 59-55 in a quarterfinal game.

Gibsland-Coleman plays Northwood Friday at 6:30 in the semifinals. The winner plays Benton in the championship game Saturday at 5:30.

Benton defeated Waco Meyer 57-56 in a semifinal game.

In girls consolation games, Benton defeated Homer 48-38 and North Webster downed Haynesville 44-14.

In the semifinals Friday, Benton faces North DeSoto at 3:45 and North Webster takes on Lincoln Prep at 5. Both games will be played in the junior high gym.

In boys consolation games, Ringgold defeated Lakeside 65-13 and Arcadia defeated Camden 67-50.

In a semifinal game Friday, Arcadia plays Northwood Webster at 8. The winner meets Ringgold Saturday at 1:30 for the consolation title.

Cameron Parker led the Minden boys with 16 points. Kameron Harris added 11. Gerald Richardson and Javen Calloway scored 10 each.

DeAvery Durham and Justin Woodford led Gibsland-Coleman with 14 points each.

The Bulldogs (6-0) led 34-17 at the half. The Crimson Tide (1-1) cut the lead to 46-37 after three quarters. They continued to rally in the fourth but Gibsland-Coleman hung on for the victory.

Gibsland-Coleman and Minden both reached the state tournament last season in their respective divisions. The teams are scheduled to meet again Tuesday at Gibsland-Coleman.
