22 Hands Up awards TVs to raffle winners in Minden

by Amber McDown

Nonprofit organization 22 Hands Up awarded several televisions to community raffle winners following a January 10 drawing held to support youth programs in Minden and surrounding areas.

Raffle tickets were sold at a cost of $10 for five chances to win, with proceeds benefiting programs that serve youth in Webster, Claiborne and Bienville parishes.

Samuel McKinsey received a 65-inch television, which was personally delivered by the founder of 22 Hands Up. Additional winners included Consuelo Thompson, Lessie Brown, Jaceion Miller, and Wayne Edwards, who each received 55-inch televisions.

The nonprofit said the raffle was designed to both reward participants and reinvest funds into programs that support local youth through mentorship, leadership development, financial literacy and life-skills training. 22 Hands Up serves youth ages 10 to 18, particularly those who are at risk or underserved.

“The raffle was a simple way for the community to come together and support programs that directly benefit local youth,” said Director Darrell Hampton of 22 Hands Up. “Every ticket purchased helps us continue offering mentorship, financial literacy and leadership opportunities for young people in our area.”
