The Minden Lady Tiders defeated the Booker T. Washington Lions 37-31 Friday night at BTW.
Minden improved to 13-8. BTW dropped to 11-8. The Lady Tiders and Lady Lions are both in District 1-4A but this was not a designated district game.
Minden hosts BTW Feb. 3 in the district matchup.
The Lady Tiders led 15-11 after the first quarter, 24-19 at the half and 33-27 after three quarters.
Minden led 35-29 for much of the fourth quarter as both teams struggled to score.
BTW cut the deficit to 35-31 and had a chance to get within two. But the Lady Tiders drew a charge and Parys Gillins made a layup and was fouled after catching a full-court pass. She made the free throw for the final margin.
Minden hosts West Monroe Tuesday before beginning 1-4A play at Woodlawn Friday.
Elsewhere, North Webster played its second overtime game in a row. The Lady Knights edged Southwood 64-62 at Southwood.
North Webster led 24-18 at the half. Southwood rallied and led 34-32 after three quarters. The game went into overtime tied at 51.
NaZaria Caldwell hit two 3-pointers in overtime. ShaKyra Hawkins scored three points. LaAsia Thomas and J’Siyah Bell scored two points each.
Caldwell and Hawkins led the Lady Knights (8-9) with 20 and 19 points, respectively. Chazmyn Woodfork added eight.
Zoey Davis led Southwood (10-10) with 19.
Glenbrook picked up its third win, defeating Downsville 37-31 at Downsville.
Doyline fell to Quitman in a District 1-B opener at home.
