The Minden Crimson Tide defeated the Lakeside Warriors 13-3 in six innings in the first of a three-game series Thursday at Griffith Stadium.
Elsewhere, North Webster defeated Joaquin, Texas, 12-6 in the Logansport tournament for its first win of the season, and Glenbrook fell to Calvary Baptist 7-0 at Glenbrook.
At Minden, the Crimson Tide got off to a fast start with seven runs in the first. They added one in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Landon Brewer pitched all six innings for his second win. He scattered six hits, struck out nine and walked none. He also went 2-for-4 with a triple, double and two RBI.
Jaxon Smith went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Topher Wilson went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Hudson Brown went 2-for-2 and walked twice. Keegan Pope had two RBI.
Lakeside’s Drake Chreene went 3-for-3 with a double. Brock Case had a double.
The Tide (5-1) and Warriors meet in Game 2 Friday at 6 at Lakeside.
At the Logansport tournament, North Webster’s Tyler Brown had a triple, double and three RBI. Gerritt Gillentine had two RBI. He also struck out three in 1 1/3innings of relief.
Starter Aiden Woodall struck out 13 and walked one in 4 2/3 innings.
North Webster improved to 1-1.
At Glenbrook, Glenbrook’s Noah Martin had a double. Starter Braydon Watkins struck out seven and walked two in 4 innings.
The Apaches (1-6) and Cavaliers (4-1) play again Friday at 6 at Calvary.
