A 31-year-old woman was arrested February 18 after officers responded to a reported disturbance and found two women fighting in a parking lot on Lee Street, according to a Minden Police Department report.
An officer dispatched to the 1300 block of Lee Street reported seeing two women wrestling on the ground in the grass. The officer gave repeated verbal commands for the women to stop and separate, but both refused to comply.
Police said a Taser was displayed and the women were warned they would be tased if they did not release each other. One woman complied, but the other, later identified as Laquesha Shelton, 31, continued attempting to attack. Shelton was then tased due to noncompliance, police said.
Both women were placed in handcuffs, advised of their rights and transported from the scene. Authorities said both refused medical treatment.
While seated in the back of a patrol unit, Shelton reportedly slipped out of her handcuffs and opened the rear door, attempting to approach the other woman again. She was restrained a second time and transported to the Minden Police Department for booking.
Shelton was charged with disturbing the peace by fighting, resisting an officer and simple escape.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
