The Glenbrook Lady Apaches and Doyline Lady Panthers posted victories Thursday.
Glenbrook defeated Choudrant 11-1 at Choudrant and Doyline edged Simsboro 7-6 in a District 1-B opener at Doyline.
Elsewhere, Minden fell to Zwolle 13-1 at Minden.
At Choudrant, Savannah Mangrum allowed four hits, struck out 12 and walked four.
Glenbrook had 14 hits. Ellie Earnhardt went 4-for-5 with a double. Chloe Gregg went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Gracie Heard went 2-for-3.
Anna Grace Vining went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Gabi Brown and Kynzie Smith had two hits each.
Glenbrook (10-3) visits Weston Monday at 5.
At Doyline, Simboro tied the game at 6 with a run in the top of the seventh. Doyline then won it with one in the bottom of the inning.
Lanie Gates led off with a single, stole second and third, and scored on Sariyah Gill’s groundout to second.
Gates went 3-for-3. Karmadie Bartlett and Kanyion Bartlett both went 2-for-3 with doubles. Raelyn Pease had a double. Gill had two RBI and went the distance in the circle for the win.
Doyline (4-1) hosts Gibsland-Coleman Monday at 5. Simsboro dropped to 3-10.
At Minden, Lizzie Balkom and Lindsay Ryan both went 2-for-3. Nola Lange had a double.
Minden (5-4) hosts Captain Shreve Friday at 5. Zwolle improved to 5-4.
