High school baseball: Strong pitching lifts Minden past Stanley; North Webster wins

The Minden Crimson Tide defeated Anacoco 2-0 Friday in the Stanley tournament.

Also in the tournament, Glenbrook fell to Weston 3-2.

In non-tournament games, North Webster defeated Taylor, Ark., 14-8 at Taylor, Lakeside lost to Loyola 13-3 at Lakeside and Doyline fell to Calvin 10-6 at Doyline.

At the Stanley tournament, Minden only had two hits. But the Tide scored a run in the bottom of the second on four walks and one in the third on an error. That was enough thanks to some outstanding pitching.

Starter Landon Brewer allowed two hits, struck out 11 and walked five in six innings. Barron Bower pitched a scoreless seventh. Bower also had a double.

Minden improved to 11-5. Anacoco dropped to 3-5.

Two Weston pitchers limited Glenbrook to three hits. Ryan Reagan had a double.

Glenbrook starter Brayden Watkins scattered six hits, struck out four and walked one in five innings. Ace Rolen pitched a scoreless sixth.

Glenbrook dropped to 11-10. Weston improved to 11-6.

At Doyline, the Panthers had six hits. Emery Ransbottom went 2-for-4 with a double. James Dodge allowed one hit, struck out eight and walked one in 4 2/3 innings of relief.

Doyline dropped to 5-7. Calvin improved to 1-2.

At Lakeside, Gage Williams and Nate Wallace had one RBI each. Lakeside dropped to 5-14. Loyola improved to 13-7.

At Taylor, Colby Dinkins went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Tyler Brown went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI. He also drew three walks.

Landon Lewis went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Tanner Temple went 2-for-4. Cayden Bernard had a double and two RBI.

Chandler Mckenzie got the win. He pitched 4 2/3 innings of relief With four strikeouts and no walks.
