High school softball: Lakeside splits games on final day of its tournament

The Lakeside Lady Warriors split two games Saturday on the final day of the Lakeside tournament.

Lakeside defeated Downsville 15-0 and lost to Cedar Creek 8-6.

The Lady Warriors took advantage of 11 walks, five hits, three hit-by-pitches and several errors in the three-inning game against Downsville.

Rhea Waller had a double and three RBI. She also walked twice. Emily Jones had a double.

Teal Austin and Moose Jernigan had two RBI each. Bray Lewis drew three walks.

Jernigan and Peyton Wood combined for seven strikeouts.

Lakeside led Cedar Creek 6-0 through four innings. The Lady Cougars scored five in the fifth and three in the seventh.

Jones went 3-for-4 with a double. Ella Wood went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Peyton Wood went 2-for-4 with a double.

Lakeside (11-5) continues District 3-2A play Tuesday at home against Winnfield at 5:30.
