Karen’s Korner,
It is always good to be prepared.
Recently, I attended a Resource Fair and one of the presenters provided a list of supplies for an emergency kit. There are some basic and essential supplies that we all should keep on hand, just in case, because we never know when an emergency will arise.
It was suggested that we stock for at least 3 days:
The basics include the following:
- Water – 1 gallon / per person / per day
- Nonperishable canned or packaged foods
- Can opener, utensils, pocket knife and matches
- First Aid supplies
- Items for specific conditions – (medications), etc.
- Hygiene supplies – soap, sanitizer
- Radio, flashlights, extra batteries
- Dust Masks
- Basic tool kit
- Local maps
- Whistle
- Clothing
- Bedding or Emergency water proof – sleeping bag
- Money – cash
You need to pack these supplies so that they will be accessible and easy to take with you if you have to evacuate your home suddenly, or even shelter in place.
