High school baseball: Minden falls to North DeSoto; North Webster wins

The Minden Crimson Tide fell to North DeSoto 14-6 in the first of a two-game District 1-4A series Tuesday at Griffith Stadium.

Elsewhere, North Webster defeated D’Arbonne Woods 9-8 at home.

At Minden, North DeSoto led 7-4 through six innings then put seven on the board in the seventh.

Minden had 10 hits. Landon Brewer went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Topher Wilson went 2-for-3. Hudson Brown went 2-for-4. Jaxon Smith had two RBI.

North DeSoto’s Porter Doyal hit two home runs. He also had a double and four RBI.

Minden (20-8, 3-4) and defending non-select Division II state champion North DeSoto (21-7, 5-0) are scheduled to complete the series Thursday at 6 at North DeSoto.

At North Webster, D’Arbonne Woods broke a 7-7 tie with a run in the top of the seventh, but the Knights won it with two in the bottom of the inning.

Tanner Temple’s one-out single scored River McEachern and Cayden Bernard.

Temple went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Preston Ingle went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Tyler Brown went 2-for-4. 

Starter Justin Stewart went 4 1/3 innings. Aiden Woodall gave up one run in 2 2/3 innings of relief. 

North Webster (7-13) hosts Lakeside Thursday at 6. D’Arbonne Woods dropped to 10-14.
