Hungerfest set for April 9 to support UCAP services

by Amber McDown

The United Christian Assistance Program will host its annual Hungerfest fundraiser on April 9 at First Methodist Church.

Hungerfest, one of UCAP’s largest fundraisers of the year, features a dessert auction along with a “poor man’s meal” of soup, crackers, and tea. Funds raised from the event will go toward assisting individuals and families in need with utilities, food, rent, and emergency short-term lodging.

Desserts for the auction are donated by local cooks from across the Minden area. Organizers said the event also offers an opportunity for fellowship and entertainment while supporting the nonprofit’s mission.

Auctioneers for the evening will be Dr. Richard “Feel Good” Campbell and Tracy Campbell.

Organizers encourage community members to attend and support UCAP’s efforts. Those unable to attend may contribute through donations or by becoming a table sponsor for $100. Checks may be mailed to P.O. Box 314, Minden, LA 71058.

UCAP is a local ministry dedicated to helping individuals experiencing financial hardship, providing resources aimed at helping them regain stability.
