The Glenbrook Lady Apaches and Lakeside Lady Warriors rolled into the quarterfinals of the playoffs with second-round victories Tuesday.
In select Division IV, No. 2 seed Glenbrook defeated No. 15 St. Edmund 13-7 at Glenbrook. The Lady Apaches (23-6) will host No. 7 Holy Savior Menard (18-12) in the quarterfinals with a trip to Sulphur and the state tournament on the line. The Lady Eagles defeated No. 10 Ouachita Christian 8-6 in the second round.
In non-select Division IV, No. 3 Lakeside routed No. 14 South Plaquemines 30-0 in three innings. The Lady Warriors (22-9) will host No. 11 Grand Lake (18-7) in the quarterfinals. The Lady Hornets upset No. 6 Mangham 12-10 in the second round.
At Glenbrook, the Lady Apaches got off to a fast start, scoring four runs in each of the first three innings for a 12-2 lead. St. Edmund (16-12) scored three in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Glenbrook had nine hits. Hallie Sutton smacked two home runs and had five RBI. Ellie Earnhardt went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBI.
Gabi Brown had a two-run home run. Pitcher Savannah Mangrum had a double. Kynzie Smith had a single and two RBI. Gracie Heard had a single and drew three walks. Mangrum struck out 10.
At Lakeside, the Lady Warriors scored 21 runs in the first inning and nine in the second.
Fifteen Lakeside players made plate appearances. Teal Austin had two doubles and four RBI.
Starting pitcher Ella Wood had a home run, single and three RBI. Meredith Robinson had a double, single and four RBI.
Moose Jernigan went 2-for-3. Bray Lewis had a single and two RBI. Emmaline Harmon had two singles and three RBI. Peyton Wood, Lola Huddleston and Rhea Waller had one single apiece. Emily Jones had three RBI.
Wood struck out five of the six batters she faced. Jernigan pitched a perfect third inning with two strikeouts.
