High school track and field: Glenbrook’s Powell wins 400 in Region I-1A meet; Clemons qualifies for state meet in two events

Glenbrook’s Carson Powell won the boys 400 meters in the Region I-1A meet Tuesday at Lakeside.

Powell’s time was 52.59 seconds. Haynesville’s Jaron Perkins was second in 53.08.

Trent Clemons finished third in the boys 1,600 and 3,200. He ran a 5:10.44 in the 1,600 and an 11:48.05 in the 3,200. 

Cedar Creek’s Luke Alexander won the 1,600 in 4:48.22 and the 3,200 in 11:08.66.

Powell and Clemons qualified for the Class 1A state meet Thursday, May 7, at LSU.
