Hundreds of community members gathered Saturday at Victory Park to celebrate 125 years of Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Minden, marking a milestone for one of the area’s longest-operating businesses.

The anniversary celebration featured food, live music, family activities, commemorative giveaways, and a chance for residents to reflect on the company’s long history in Minden and throughout North Louisiana.
Guests enjoyed food and refreshments while gathering under a large tent erected to provide shade from the late spring heat. Children took advantage of inflatables and other activities, while many visitors received free anniversary T-shirts and special commemorative 125th anniversary Coca-Cola bottles.

A display of historic photographs drew steady attention throughout the event, allowing attendees to look back on the company’s history and its connection to generations of local families.
Founded at the turn of the 20th century, the company traces its roots to William S. Hunter, who established Minden Bottling Works after arriving in Minden from New Orleans in 1882. The company acquired a Coca-Cola franchise in 1905, becoming one of the early bottlers of the iconic beverage.
The business later became known as North Louisiana Bottling Works before adopting its current name, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Minden, in 1926.

The company’s history is closely tied to both the Hunter family of Minden and the Robertson family of Homer, who also acquired a Coca-Cola franchise in 1905. Together, the families helped guide the company through decades of growth while building a legacy of community involvement throughout the region.
Over the years, members of the Hunter family became known for supporting local recreation and community activities, including Hunter’s Playhouse, the Minden Redbirds baseball team, and other opportunities for area residents. Those efforts helped establish the company as more than a bottling operation, creating a lasting connection between the business and the community it served.

The anniversary celebration also coincides with broader America 250 commemorations taking place across the nation. At 125 years old, the Minden bottling company has existed for approximately half the life of the United States, a distinction that highlights both its longevity and its role in local history.
In addition to the company’s anniversary, the historic bottling plant building itself is expected to mark its 100th anniversary later this year.

Today, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Minden continues serving communities across North Louisiana, including Minden, Homer, Sibley, Springhill, Arcadia, Ringgold, and surrounding areas.
Saturday’s celebration gave residents an opportunity to honor that history while looking toward the future, bringing together employees, customers, community leaders, and families whose connections to the company span multiple generations.
As guests mingled beneath the tent, examined historic photographs, and collected commemorative keepsakes, the event served as both a celebration of the past and a reminder of the company’s enduring place in the community.
