Minden officer arrested, placed on administrative leave

by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden police officer was arrested early Saturday following an investigation involving the Louisiana State Police, according to Minden Police Chief Jared McIver.

McIver said he learned during the late evening hours of June 5 of allegations of misconduct involving Officer Hunter Buchanon. The chief said he immediately requested assistance from the Louisiana State Police.

According to McIver, officers from both agencies worked throughout the night in cooperation with one another. In the early morning hours of June 6, Louisiana State Police executed warrants for Buchanon’s arrest.

Following the arrest, Buchanon was immediately placed on administrative leave, McIver said.

The Louisiana State Police will continue the investigation with the full cooperation of the Minden Police Department, according to the chief.

“Minden Police Officers are held to the highest of standards and anything less will not be tolerated,” McIver said.

No details regarding the nature of the alleged misconduct or the charges associated with the arrest were released in the statement. Additional information was not immediately available.

The investigation remains ongoing.
