Youth participating in a recent college and career tour hosted by 22 Hands Up had an opportunity to explore educational pathways and hands-on career training during a visit to Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College on June 8.
The free event introduced students to a variety of programs offered by the college, including automotive technology, skilled trades and welding, electrical and technical training, and healthcare-related fields. Participants toured the campus, learned about available resources and observed demonstrations highlighting potential career opportunities.
According to organizers, the tour was well attended and students remained engaged throughout the experience.

22 Hands Up Executive Director Darrell Hampton said exposing youth to colleges, technical programs and career options is an important part of the organization’s mission.
Hampton said he hopes experiences like the NLTCC tour help young people recognize the many opportunities available to them and encourage them to begin thinking about their future educational and career goals.
The Minden-based nonprofit serves youth throughout Webster, Claiborne and Bienville parishes through programs focused on mentorship, leadership development, financial literacy, wellness and career readiness. The organization regularly hosts workshops, seminars and educational events designed to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed for success.
Organizers said the NLTCC tour gave students a firsthand look at careers that are in demand across the region while helping them better understand the training and education required to pursue them.
