The 44th Annual Mt. Olive Christian School Rodeo will return to Gantt Arena this weekend, offering two nights of rodeo competition while raising funds to support Mount Olive Christian School.
The rodeo will be held Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25, at Gantt Arena, 435 Gantt Rodeo Road in Athens. Performances begin at 8 PM each night.
The annual event will feature a full slate of rodeo competition, including bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, barrel racing, calf roping, breakaway roping, steer wrestling, and team roping. The rodeo is sanctioned by the Louisiana Rodeo Cowboys Association, United Professional Rodeo Association, and American Rodeo Association.
In addition to the rodeo events, organizers will again present the popular “World Famous Musical Chairs on Horseback” competition. Riders are also invited to participate in the grand entry on horseback and will receive free admission.
Admission is $10 at the gate, while advance tickets are available for $8. Children ages 5 and under will be admitted free.
Advance tickets may be purchased at Patton’s Western Wear in Ruston, Gibsland Bank & Trust in Athens, and Crossroads Store in Athens.
Andy Stewart will serve as the event announcer, with Rudy Burns appearing as rodeo clown. The rodeo will feature stock from J2 Rodeo Company and Burgess Brothers Bucking Horses.
The Mt. Olive Christian School Rodeo has become a longstanding summer tradition in Claiborne Parish, bringing together competitors and spectators for a weekend of family entertainment while benefiting the school.
