Although summer temperatures remain high, the City of Minden is already planning for the holiday season with the launch of a “Christmas in July” fundraising campaign aimed at expanding the city’s annual Christmas lights display.
City officials announced the campaign this week, inviting residents, businesses, and community supporters to help fund new holiday decorations and light displays throughout Minden. The effort has a fundraising goal of $50,000. As of Thursday, the campaign had raised about $3,000.
Donations will be used to enhance existing displays and add new holiday lighting to create a more festive experience for both residents and visitors during the 2026 Christmas season.
“We’re already dreaming about Christmas in Minden,” said Minden Economic Development Director and Main Street Director Sarah Overall. “Every contribution will help us add new holiday light displays and create an even more beautiful and festive Minden for our residents and visitors to enjoy.”
Overall also recognized the campaign’s first supporters, thanking The Farmer’s Daughter and Daisy Mae, the Therapy Dog, for helping launch the fundraiser with a generous donation.
“A very special thank you to The Farmer’s Daughter and Daisy Mae, the Therapy Dog, for helping us kickstart this campaign with their generous donation,” Overall said. “We appreciate our local businesses and individual citizens investing in our community and helping us make the season a little brighter.”
The sponsorship campaign also offers local businesses an opportunity to gain visibility by being recognized as holiday lights sponsors while supporting one of the city’s seasonal traditions. City officials said the annual display brings together families, friends, and visitors to enjoy festive lights, music, and holiday activities while helping strengthen community spirit.
Overall encourages donations of any amount, noting that “big or small, every donation helps us LIGHT UP MINDEN!”
Residents interested in contributing can donate through the city’s online Holiday Lights Display Sponsorship fundraiser, which is linked on the City of Minden’s Facebook page.
