Resource fair connects Webster Parish residents with local services

by Amber McDown

A strong turnout Thursday at the Minden Civic Center brought together residents and representatives from organizations across Webster Parish for a community resource fair hosted by Men and Women of Courage – Webster Parish.

The event, held August 20, introduced residents to local nonprofit organizations, agencies, businesses, and community groups offering resources, services, and volunteer opportunities.

Among the organizations represented were CASA, Webster Parish School Board, Embrace Grace, the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, Louisiana Association for the Blind, Seeds Women’s Center, Evening Lions Club, Head Start, Webster Ready Start, the Webster Parish Veterans Safety Net, Minden Medical Center, Capital One, Hearts and Halos, The Dragonfly Harbor, Mercy’s Closet, the Webster Parish Council on Aging, Game Warriors, and others.

The resource fair provided an opportunity for residents to learn more about services available locally and connect directly with organizations that serve the community.

Organizers said many of the participating nonprofits also are seeking volunteers, giving attendees an opportunity not only to find assistance but also to learn how they can become involved in helping others.

Men and Women of Courage – Webster Parish said the goal of the resource fair was to introduce the community to the many nonprofit organizations offering resources to those in need and to highlight the volunteer opportunities available throughout Webster Parish.
