The Studio Dance Co. opens with full-house ribbon cutting

by Amber McDown

The Studio Dance Co. welcomed a full house Saturday, August 22, as the new dance studio celebrated its grand opening and ribbon cutting at 210 Murrell Street in Minden.

More than 70 people attended the event, including many girls and their families who came to register for classes ahead of the studio’s fall 2026 season.

The grand opening featured an opportunity for families to tour the new studio, register for fall classes, meet the instructors, shop with Dance Warehouse, enjoy light refreshments, and take photos.

Owners Darien Madden, competition director, and Lauren Phillips, artistic director and ballet instructor, said they were excited to see the community’s response to the new studio.

“We have been overwhelmed in the best possible way. God has been really good to us throughout this whole process. Thank you for trusting us with your girls, we will take care of them. We love y’all,” Madden said.

Phillips said the opening was more than she had imagined.

“I never in my wildest dreams imagined this. We’re so excited. We can’t wait to get started. It’s going to be an adventure,” Phillips said.

The Studio Dance Co. was founded on the belief that dancers should receive high-quality training in a positive and encouraging environment. Madden and Phillips are longtime educators and mentors who wanted to create a place where dancers could be challenged to grow while receiving support and encouragement.

The studio’s mission extends beyond dance instruction, with an emphasis on building confidence, developing character, and creating lasting relationships.

Classes are available for students ages 2 and up, with instruction offered in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and acro.

The studio’s website describes its goal as providing families with “high-quality instruction, intentional mentorship, and a welcoming community where every dancer is known, valued, and encouraged to thrive.”

With fall registration underway, The Studio Dance Co. is preparing to begin classes and welcome its first students. For more information, visit their website at thestudiodancecompany.com.
