The Lakeside Warriors extended their winning streak to three with a 40-0 victory over the Plain Dealing Lions Friday night in Sibey.
Lakeside improved to 3-2. Plain Dealing dropped to 0-5. The game was Lakeside’s homecoming.
The Warriors grabbed an early lead and reserves got plenty of playing time. Plain Dealing had a roster of about 20 players with almost a half-dozen eighth-graders.
Freshman Malik Thorn scored two touchdowns, giving him 10 on the season.
Senior Eric Jones caught a 46-yard touchdown pass and returned an interception for a touchdown. Junior Brandon Jackson caught a 35-yard touchdown pass.
Junior Levi Lelke kicked a 42-yard field goal.
Lakeside opens District 4-2A play Thursday at Mansfield. The Wolverines defeated Grant 46-23 Friday night.
Cedar Creek 22, North Webster 21: The Knights lost a heartbreaker to the undefeated Cougars Friday night at Baucum-Farrar Stadium.
North Webster dropped to 1-4 with three of the losses by seven points or less. Cedar Creek, a member of District 1-1A, improved to 5-0.
North Webster played a strong first half and led 14-0. According to the Ruston Daily Leader, the Knights scored on an 82-yard run by J’Quorion Easter and a 30-yard pass from Justin Stewart to Braylon Washington.
The defense shut down a potent Cougars offense,
But Cedar Creek opened the second half with an 82-yard touchdown drive. The Cougars then took advantage of an interception to tie the game at 14.
According to the Daily Leader, North Webster regained the lead on another big pass play.
But Cedar Creek drove 63 yards for a touchdown followed by a two-point conversion with 3:30 left in the game,
The Knights still had a chance but Stewart was sacked on fourth-and-6.
North Webster hosts Bossier Thursday. The Bearkats (3-2) defeated Southwood 34-12 Thursday night.
