Broadband expansion positions Webster Parish for continued development

by Minden Press-Herald
Louisiana’s effort to expand broadband access across the state reached another milestone as an expansion in Webster Parish delivers reliable, high-speed broadband access to hundreds of locations.

The expansion, delivered by AT&T, provides reliable broadband access to 139 households and 28 businesses in Webster Parish, ensuring that previously unserved and underserved locations have the access they need to thrive in today’s digital economy.

“The work Louisiana is doing is essential to the long-term development of rural communities. Rural communities will not be left behind, and we are proud to continue the work to develop them until full access is attained. Thanks to the support of President Trump and our Louisiana congressional delegation, we can continue the work and make positive change possible.”
Gov. Jeff Landry

This project is made possible through Louisiana’s Granting Unserved Municipalities Broadband Opportunities (GUMBO) 1.0 program, supporting network expansions that extend broadband service to more homes and businesses statewide.

“With every broadband expansion, rural communities are granted more opportunities than ever before. Our community members deserve the opportunity to compete and grow, and strong internet connection makes that possible. I’m grateful for the work ConnectLA and our local providers are doing to help parishes across the state reach full connectivity.”
State Rep. Wayne McMahen

“For rural communities, connectivity is driving room for development in all areas. With better connectivity, residents can access essential services from home, strengthening the entire local economy. Investments like these show our state’s commitment to long-term growth and responsible infrastructure development.”
State Sen. J. Adam Bass

State leaders highlighted that development in communities like Webster Parish is essential for continued growth, as this expansion provides an increase in opportunity for residents, businesses and future generations.

“With these expansions, we are helping put the best infrastructure in the ground and allowing families to save money on essential services. We are getting closer and closer to full access across the state, and I would like to thank Gov. Landry, AT&T and everyone who’s been part of helping these projects take place to advance rural communities.”

“At AT&T, we’re focused on connecting more Louisianans to fast, reliable broadband. Connecting 139 households and 28 businesses in Dixie Inn located in Webster Parish represents more than a construction milestone — it’s about expanding access to education, telehealth, remote work and economic opportunity. We appreciate the state’s leadership and shared commitment to bringing modern connectivity to communities across Louisiana.”
