Beautiful fall weather greeted participants and spectators Tuesday, October 20, as the annual Webster Parish Fair Parade made its way through downtown Minden, officially kicking off a week of fair festivities.
The parade featured a variety of entries, including local organizations, schools, and political candidates, with spectators lining the streets to enjoy the procession.
This year’s route was slightly shorter than usual to accommodate early voting at the Webster Parish Courthouse. With numerous political candidates participating in the parade, organizers adjusted the route to avoid potential conflicts with Louisiana’s law prohibiting campaigning within 600 feet of a polling place. Rather than turning at Pine Street, the parade turned at East Union Street.
Despite the shortened route, the festive atmosphere remained, with participants and spectators appearing to enjoy the afternoon’s activities.
The Webster Parish Fair continues through Saturday, October 24, at the fairgrounds in Minden, offering carnival rides, games, food, and other traditional fair attractions.
The Webster Parish Livestock Show is also underway, with the pet show and swine show scheduled for Wednesday evening, followed by the lamb, goat, and beef cattle show Thursday at 6 PM. The livestock luncheon and sale are scheduled for Friday, beginning at 11:30 AM and 1 PM, respectively.
The annual fair provides an opportunity for families to enjoy a longstanding Webster Parish tradition while supporting local youth participating in livestock competitions.
