From a goat dressed as Superman to some particularly energetic pigs, the second night of the Webster Parish 4-H Livestock Show provided plenty of entertainment Wednesday, October 21, at the Webster Parish Fairgrounds.
A good crowd turned out for an evening that began with the return of the Pet Show Costume Contest, followed by swine showmanship and market competitions, and concluded with the always-entertaining Pee Wee Pig Push.
The pet costume contest, a former livestock show tradition revived this year, featured an assortment of creatively dressed animals. Among the entries were three dogs portraying Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, along with a goat sporting a Superman costume.

In the elementary division, Winnie Downs took first place with her pug dressed as a TY Beanie Baby, followed by Caroline Hudson in second, Hope Lincoln in third, and Alina Jordan receiving honorable mention. In the senior division, Makayla Morris took first with her skeleton dog, and Taylor Rayner placed in second. Downs was also named Grand Champion of the pet costume contest.

The swine show followed, with young exhibitors demonstrating their skills in handling and presenting their animals. The cooler fall temperatures appeared to put some extra spring in the pigs’ steps, making it a challenge for several contestants to keep their animals moving in the intended direction.
Henleigh Moore earned Champion Swine Showman honors, with Zoey Horn named Reserve Champion Swine Showman.
In the market swine competition, Moore also claimed Champion Market Pig, while Nash Leonard earned Reserve Champion Market Pig.

First-place winners in the six market swine classes were Harper Thomas, Nash Leonard (Classes 2 and 3), Maxwell Utley, Henleigh Moore, and Zoey Horn.

The evening concluded with the Pee Wee Pig Push, as some of the youngest participants tried their hands at herding pigs. The combination of enthusiastic children and uncooperative animals provided plenty of laughs for spectators.

The livestock show continues Thursday, October 22, with lamb, goat, and beef cattle competitions beginning at 6 PM, along with the Doug Sale Memorial Award.
Friday, October 23, will feature a livestock luncheon at 11:30 AM, followed by the sale at 1 PM.
The Webster Parish Fair continues through Saturday, October 24, offering residents additional opportunities to enjoy the annual community tradition.
