Downtown Minden was filled with witches, elaborate costumes, and creatively decorated rides Saturday, October 24, as the fourth annual Witches Ride of Minden brought a large crowd of participants and spectators to the historic district.
Hosted by Pearls of Purpose, Inc., the annual event continues to grow, with spectators lining the streets to collect treats and trinkets tossed by passing riders. The creativity was on full display, with entries ranging from traditional witches and spooky skeletons to elaborate themed displays, including a giant skeletal horse pulling a carriage, a Toy Story-themed golf cart complete with a large dinosaur, and a towering shopping cart carrying riders high above the street.

Sarah Overall, a member of Pearls of Purpose who also serves as Minden Main Street director, expressed appreciation for the community’s support.
“What an incredible day for Minden! We want to thank everyone who participated in the ride, came downtown to watch the parade, and helped make the event such a success. We couldn’t have done it without our generous sponsors and dedicated volunteers. It takes a lot of people working together to pull off an event like this, and we’re so grateful for everyone who helped make it happen.”

The Witches Ride was part of a full day of Halloween activities downtown, with the Enchanted Market, food trucks, a children’s costume contest, and a new old-fashioned cake walk scheduled ahead of the parade. An after-party with live music and contests was also scheduled at the Minden Civic Center..
Now in its fourth year, the Witches Ride has become a popular fall tradition, bringing residents and visitors together for an evening of Halloween fun.
