A black cloth, which represents Good Friday, draped the cross at First United Methodist Church in downtown Minden Friday. The black cloth, which replaced the purple cloth that draped the cross from Ash Wednesday until Maundy Thursday, will remain through Saturday - the day of silence. On Sunday, the black cloth will be replaced with a white cloth, which represents the resurrection and will remain through Ascension Day when the cross is rendered barren until the next lenten season.
