OXFORD, Alabama – The Minden 12u All-Stars have been eliminated from the Dixie World Series, bringing another fantastic summer of baseball to conclusion.
The boys of summer put up a heck of a fight before being put out.
Minden 19, Oxford, Ala 1
Hayden Harmon had a home run, two singles and 4 RBIs, CJ Watts homered and had 3 RBIs, Cooper Chase had a 3-RBI single and Bradley Dick singled twice and drove in two. Price Miller, Maddox Mandino, Brandon Winston, Jake Wilkins, Bryce Powell and Dayton Sims all added RBIs for Minden.
Cooper Chase got the win, striking out three batters.
Minden 5, Alabama 3
Minden had to face the other Alabama All-Stars in their next game, and they made it a sweep of the state with a close win.
With the game tied at 3-3 in the fifth inning, Maddox Mandino drove a clutch double to the outfield, scoring two runs to give Minden a lead they would hold. Mandino also had a solo home run in the ball game to lead the offense.
Minden’s other two runs came courtesy of a two-run blast by CJ Watts. Brandon Winston, Hayden Harmon and Price Miller also had hits for Minden.
Cooper Chase started and struck out five batters in 3.2 innings of work, before giving way to Mandino who pitched 2.1 of relief, striking out three, to get the win.
Minden 3, South Carolina 6
Minden’s impressive run in the World Series ended with a close game against the South Carolina All-Stars.
Maddox Mandino and CJ Watts each went yard one more time in the tournament as Minden trailed late in the action. Mandino had a two-run blast while Watts capped his tournament with a solo shot.
Bradley Dick doubled and Jake Wilkins singled to round out the offense for Minden.
Mandino led the pitching staff with four strikeouts.
