Citizens to shoot fireworks near Turner’s Pond

by Minden Press-Herald

Some private citizens are bringing fireworks to Turner’s Pond tonight.

After years of a privately-funded fireworks display on the pond, it looked as if there would be no fireworks.

Lakeshore Drive resident George Fithen had funded the display for many years. Fithen passed away in 2017 and no one had taken up the mantle for this year.

Homeowners along the pond have decided to shoot their own fireworks in memory of Fithen, and invite the community to join them.

All are asked to refrain from shooting fireworks until 9 p.m. tonight, at which time all will fire them off together.
