Viola Walker passed from this world to her eternal rewards in heaven on February 6, 2019. A celebration of her life will be held at Mt. Calm Baptist Church, 331 Bailey St. Minden, LA 71055, on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11:00am with Rev. Billy Hawkins, Sr. officiating.

Viola Gladney Walker was born to the late Henry and Hattie Gladney on May 6, 1941. Viola accepted Christ at a young age joining Bright Star Church in Minden, LA where she served as an usher faithfully. Viola later united with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Minden, LA under the leadership Rev. Billy Hawkins.

Viola was married to Leonard Walker for 57 years and to their union, four daughters were born: Linda, Delores, Dicie, and Katina. Viola believed in hard work and dedication in which she showed by working for Town & Country Health and Rehabilitation for 41 years as a member of the kitchen staff. She expressed her love through her cooking and feeding others. She cooked almost every Sunday for her family and was affectionately known as the “Peach Cobbler Queen” which was second to none. Viola loved flowers and had a “green thumb” because everything she planted flourished. Viola loved to crochet. She would sit for hours crocheting scarves and blankets only to give them away. Viola took great pleasure in giving to others. 

Cherishing her memory, her beloved husband, Leonard Walker; daughters, Linda Moody (Kenny), Delores Banks (Fred), Dicie Morman, Katina Lindsey (Patrick); loving grandchildren, Kendrick Moody (Kashenna), Frederick Banks, Jr., Desiree Morman, and Justice Lindsey; great granddaughter: Kailynn Denise Moody; Siblings: Ethel Jackson, Dallas, TX; Fort C. Gladney & Booker T. Gladney, Minden, LA; Joseph Gladney (Sarah), Shreveport, LA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, four sisters, and three brothers.
