Minden beats Loyola thanks to big first inning

Minden continued their hot start to the season by going to Loyola and getting a 6-3 win on Friday night in Shreveport.

The Flyers were 10-1 entering the game, but Minden started the game with a three-run first inning to get out to an early lead.

Carson Fields got the win for the Tide, improving to 3-1 this season. Fields now has 22 strikeouts in 20 innings with a 1.75 ERA. Fields went six and one-thirds innings against Loyola with four strikeouts.

Seth Johnson started the inning with a hit before John Volentine roped one down the third-base line to drive him home.

Trevor McClean ended up with two RBIs to lead Minden.

The Tide ended up with ten hits on the night
