PLAYOFFS: DOYLINE, NORTH WEBSTER ADVANCE

Doyline got off to a hot start and cruised to an eventual 14-3 win over Negreet in the first round of the Class-B state playoffs on Monday night in Doyline.

Hunter Carter got the win on the mound for the Panthers, going five innings with seven strikeouts and only allowing two hits.

Trey Ware, Carter and Jeremy Miller all had multiple-hit games for the Panthers, who will play the winner of Maurepas-Fairview in the regional round next week.

The Panthers improve to 22-7 with the win.

North Webster 12,

Caldwell Parish 0

The Knights made quick work of Caldwell and got out of the game in five innings thanks to the mercy rule.

The Knights will play the winner of #8 Jena and #25 Donaldsonville in the second round beginning later this week.

The second and third rounds of the playoffs are best-of-three series.
