It’s time to take charge and move forward

by Minden Press-Herald

I’ve had a few jobs in my life time that I didn’t really care for but I did them until another one came along.  I was always taught you don’t just quit something.

I was also taught to work hard at all times.  If you don’t like what you are doing, better yourself so you can do something you love.  Being in a job that makes you miserable takes the life out of you. Others around you suffer because of it.  But you don’t quit until you find another one to replace it.

Another thing people need to realize is no one owes you anything in life.  I am sorry if you didn’t have the best upbringing, but you are now an adult and it is time for you to take charge of your own life and move forward.

You now have full control of your life.  You choose the outcome.

This is where you need to look at your life and see if your mindset needs to change.  Are you putting your best foot forward?  Are you always trying to learn something new?

We are all on a journey called “life” and we will never “arrive.”  Seasons change and your journey changes.  That being said, you should have a goal of where and why. You need to be clear on where you are heading and what you are doing to get there.

One should set goals to achieve greatness.  Some goals are small. They are meant to get you going. Some goals should be large in order to achieve greatness.  Along the way, we should be happy in what we are doing.  If not, your goals are wrong.

I am very happy in what I am doing but I am not set in where I am going.  I am at a point in my life that I believe I will achieve some great goals.  I am pursuing them right now.  I’m always on training calls, always reading to reach my short-term goals.  When I reach the short-term goals, it gets me closer to the long-term goals in life.  You are never too old to learn new things.

The first thing I do is pray that I am in the will of God. When you are not in His will, things are harder.  They don’t turn out the way you expect because you are not suppose to be there.

I believe those of us who are “more experienced” should always be teaching and showing the younger.  I know it is more difficult these days because we were the hands on kind of people and this generation is more technology kind of people.

We can still teach people to work hard and go after their dreams.  Let be their biggest cheerleaders of the bunch instead of always putting them down.

Just  because someone doesn’t do thing like you have always done it doesn’t make it wrong. This is something I am dealing with in my own life.

As long as something gets done, it doesn’t necessarily matter how it gets done — except for folding towels. There is only one way to fold them.  And yes this is a private joke with me and my family.
