Earlier this month one Russel Cato, 37, was arrested after a victim reported him to Springhill Police Department for false imprisonment, domestic abuse with strangulation, and first-degree rape.

A Deputy was dispatched to a residence on the 200 block of 6th Street in Springhill in reference to a domestic. However, on the way there, dispatch informed the deputy that the victim was now at the Springhill Police Department waiting on them.

The victim stated that “her boyfriend, Russel Cato, had held her captive … all day. She stated that he choked her several times and every time she tried to leave, he jerked her back into the house, (she) stated Cato hit (her) in the face several times,” the report read.

The victim told police that Cato told her, in vulgar terms, that he would stop when she had sex with him. “The victim stated that she did not want to have sex with Cato, but consented to stop the abuse.”

The Deputy later made contact with Cato. he was interviewed and the report stated that “during the interview, we gathered enough evidence to confirm the charges filed against him.”

Cato was later transported to the BDCC and booked on the charges of false imprisonment, domestic abuse battery with strangulation, and first-degree rape.
