Appointment of Wayne Edwards as Dist. A Councilman put on hold

by Will Phillips

While initially receiving a Letter from Louisiana’s Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin to commission the Governor’s appointment of Wayne Edwards to the District A City Councilman Seat on Tuesday, Mayor Terry Gardner has since said that he received word from Baton Rogue stating that this appointment is to be put on hold. Gardner also stated that he has no information as to why the appointment was being put on hold.

“I received word Thursday afternoon that the appointment of WayneEdwards was on hold at this time. I have no other information,” said Gardner.

While the City was initially going to be waiting for the swearing-in of Edwards to start taking care of City Council business, it now seems that Minden will be waiting even longer for the State to appoint a City Councilman for Dist. A.

City Council meetings take place at 5:30 p.m. on the first Monday of every month. While typically open to the public, due to social distancing guidelines and keeping groups smaller than ten people, if one would like to still watch the meeting, they can visit the City’s Youtube by searching “City of Minden – Feels Like Home,” and watch it live.
