Yesterday afternoon Minden Police were called in to Minden Motel, located at 1205 Shreveport Road in reference to a call about a deceased infant. The call was made by the mother who was occupying the motel room with her child and an adult male.
“They called it in, an unresponsive infant. The baby was already deceased when we arrived. It’s under investigation. The baby is going to be sent to Little Rock for an autopsy,” said Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper.
Cropper stated that, “The mama had slept, woke up, the baby was awake, she got the baby a bottle, laid back down in the bed, fell back asleep again. When she wakes up again a little after one, the baby is unresponsive.”
He also stated that while there is no suspicion of foul play at this time, ultimately it will be based on the autopsy report.
“Of course it wasn’t an ideal situation for an infant to be in the hotel room But there was food and clothes there for the baby, so it wasn’t like the baby wasn’t being taken care of,” said Cropper.
“When I left they had the mother and the male that was in the room, interviewing them and getting their story, but there was no indication of any type of foul play at all that we could see.”
