Letter: Why would we keep the state tax hike?

by Minden Press-Herald

Sent to Rep. Wayne McMahen and Senator Robert Mills:

I oppose “extending” to permanence the .45% so called temporary sales tax and I am surprised that a Republican would propose this actual increase because it was promised to be an emergency temporary measure when it was passed. It looks more and more like it was a big bait and switch from the get-go. Money is pouring in to state government. It can be used for the infrastructure we hear about constantly, but instead state government pays for local gazebos and municipal building to the tune of raising LA spending 25 to 35 percent. I looks like government promises aren’t worth a damn and that this legislative session should have been aborted.
