High school softball: Minden, Lakeside win tournament games

The Minden Lady Tiders and Lakeside Lady Warriors won tournament games Friday.

Minden defeated Evangel Christian 6-5 in the Evangel Christian tournament, and Lakeside downed Parkway 6-5 in the Stanley tournament 

Minden got its second victory over Evangel this week. The Tiders defeated the Lady Eagles 6-4 in a District 1-4A game Tuesday.

Minden led 6-5 after six innings then scored five in the top of the seventh.

Pitcher Lindsay Ryan went 4-for-5 with a triple, double and four RBI.

Brooklyn Edwards went 3-for-4 with a double. Kylie Ryan had a triple and double.

Leigha K-Gilbert hit a two-run home run in the top of the first. Kaylin Williams had a triple.

Minden (9-8) continues play in the tournament Saturday.

Lakeside scored one run in the top of the seventh to take a 6-2 lead then held off a Parkway rally in the bottom of the inning.

Mackenzie McCoy had a home run, double and four RBI. McKenna Chreene went 2-for-3 with a triple.

McKenzie Hamiter’s single with two outs scored Raleah Harris in the seventh. Harris led off the inning with a walk and Emily Jones singled with one out.

Chreene had 12 strikeouts. Lakeside (9-8) continues play in the tournament Saturday at 10 a.m. against Castor.
