The storms that swept through northwest Louisiana on Friday evening caused some extra work for emergency personnel around Minden and the rest of Webster Parish.
The Minden Fire Department’s first call this evening was for a possible lightning strike on the 3-story white house across from the library.
“It is still under investigation, but it was likely to have been a lightning strike,” said Minden Fire Chief Brian Williams.
They were called away immediately afterwards to deal with a downed tree on Wilderness Trail.
While Minden has not experienced a great number of emergency calls this evening, other departments in the parish are attending many other calls, mostly dealing with downed trees.
At the time of this writing, there is still at least one more band of storms expected through the area.
