The Minden Crimson Tide and North Webster Knights had their seasons come to an end Saturday.
Minden, the No. 17 seed, fell to No. 16 Franklin Parish 11-3 in Game 2 of their non-select Division II best-of-3 first-round series in Winnboro. Franklin Parish won Game 1 4-3 Thursday.
North Webster, the No. 14 seed, was swept by No. 19 Caldwell Parish 8-3 and 6-5 in a non-select Division III first-round series in Springhill.
At Franklin Parish, two Patriots pitchers limited Minden to three hits,
Landyn Huddleston went 2-for-4. Elliott Sheppard had a single.
Franklin Parish (23-13), the designated visiting team in Game 2, scored five in the top of the sixth to take an 11-0 lead. Minden scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the inning, taking advantage of several errors.
Franklin Parish’s Cason Cloessner went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI.
Kason King went 3-for-4 with a triple and double.
Minden finished 18-14 in its first season under Head Coach Cody Davis.
At North Webster, the Knights came close to evening the series in the second game.
North Webster, the designated visiting team in Game 2, trailed 3-0 after three innings. The Knights rallied with a run in the top of the fourth, three in the second and one in the sixth to take a 5-3 lead.
But the Spartans scored three in the bottom of the sixth.
North Webster had seven hits. Judd Wesson went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Nathan Bernard, Collin McKenzie, Ethyn Radar and Jase Wesson had one single apiece.
In Game 1, Caldwell Parish led 2-1 after four innings then scored five in the top of the fifth. The Spartans had six singles in the inning.
North Webster had four hits. Radar went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kyle Dinkins had a double and an RBI. McKenzie had a single.
North Webster closed its season 18-12. Caldwell Parish improved to 21-15.
