North Louisiana Civil Rights Coalition & Shreve Memorial Library Host Panel Series
Shreveport/Bossier City/Minden, LA—The North Louisiana Civil Rights Coalition in partnership with the Shreve Memorial Library presents the ‘Memories of the Movement’ Panel Series. This panel discussion series honors the 60th year commemoration of key events in Shreveport’s Civil Rights Movement. The panels will be held at select Shreve Memorial Library branches:
• Wallette Branch: Monday., September 18th, 11:30 A.M.
• David Raines Branch: Wednesday., September 20th, 11:30 A.M.,
• Broadmoor Branch: Thursday, September 21st, 1:00 P.M.
Panelists include—Carolyn Jones Sullivan, the youngest student to integrate Caddo Parish Schools and daughter of the late Dr. E. Edwards Jones, long-serving pastor of Galilee Baptist Church, Monica Mickle, daughter of the late civil rights icon, Dr. Harry Blake, long-serving pastor of Mount Canaan Baptist Church, Dr. C.E. McLain and Rev. Asriel McLain, sons of the late Dr. C.C. McLain—former Pastor of historic Little Union Baptist Church where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. last spoke. This event is free to the public.
