Your Webster Parish Libraries would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined in on the “spooktacular” fun at this year’s Trunk or Treat events held in Springhill, Doyline, Cotton Valley, and Minden. Over 2,900 community members came together for unforgettable fall fun this season, and it wouldn’t have been the same without each of you.
The annual Trunk or Treat events embody the essence of community unity and offer fun-filled evenings where families, local businesses, and local organizations have the opportunity to come together to create unforgettable experiences.
“It’s all about spreading joy, sharing smiles, and fostering connections,” said Kim Sentell, Director of Marketing and Community Liaison for Webster Parish Libraries. “On behalf of the Staff, Director, and WPL Board of Control, I would like to express our appreciation to all the local businesses and organizations who generously contributed their time, resources, candy donations, and creativity to make this event a reality. Your dedication and support were instrumental in creating a safe and enjoyable environment for the children and families in our local communities. We were overwhelmed by the enthusiastic participation in trunk decorating, and your creativity was truly remarkable,” said Sentell. “Also, thank you to the children and their families who attended the Trunk or Treat events. The joy on the faces of the little ones as they collected candy and enjoyed the various activities along with your presence made this event a memorable one, and we hope to continue this tradition in the years to come,” said Sentell.
Cassidy Duck, Children’s Coordinator for Webster Parish Libraries, went to great lengths to coordinate the lineup for this year’s activities that accompanied the Trunk or Treating for the Springhill and Minden locations. Activities included Face Painting by Evelyn Colvin, Balloon Art with Capri the Clown, a Creepy-Crawly Sensory Room, Marshmallow Roasting, and Pumpkin Painting Contests. Wild World Texas also made an appearance at this year’s Springhill and Minden Trunk or Treat events and educated trunk-or-treaters about exotic animals. All ages were able to meet and greet unique animals such as a baby kangaroo, Belgian Malinois, a tortoise, a ball python, and even a parrot! Wild World Texas rescues abandoned animals while providing a loving and caring environment for them to thrive in. These animals act as ambassadors, educating and inspiring organizations and schools.
Kelly Burge, Doyline Branch Manager, participated in Doyline’s annual Trunk or Treat event held on October 28th at Lake Bistineau State Park, and Carolyn McLemore, Cotton Valley Branch Manager, welcomed trunk-or-treaters at the 2023 Cotton Valley Fall Fest.
Thank you to our local community members for being a part of the Webster Parish Libraries 2023 Trunk or Treat events. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
