Civitan Santa collecting toys and donations for annual toy drive

by Amber McDown

The annual Christmas Toy Program, “Civitan Santa,” a collaborative effort between the Minden Civitan Club and the Young Women’s Service Club, is now in full swing. Dedicated to bringing joy to needy children in the Minden-South Webster Parish area, this longstanding community initiative relies on the support of local residents.

The Minden Civitan Club, with assistance from the Young Woman’s Service Club, collects new toys each year, and the Minden Police Department and the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office play a vital role in delivering these toys to children just before Christmas.

Those interested in contributing to the cause can deliver new toys to the Minden police station or any Civitan member. Cash donations are also welcomed and can be sent to the Minden Civitan Club, P.O. Box 95, Minden, LA 71058. Various businesses within the community will have designated drop boxes for toy donations.

Application forms for assistance are available at the Minden Police Department and the Webster Community Action offices. Children up to the age of thirteen will be considered for the program. To ensure timely delivery by Christmas, all applications must be submitted to the sponsors by December 15.

The collective efforts of the Minden Civitan Club, the Young Women’s Service Club, and the community at large ensure that the spirit of giving continues to brighten the holiday season for those in need.
