It’s Christmas time in Minden

by Minden Press-Herald

Christmas in Minden was a big hit last weekend. The event kicked off on Friday with a tree lighting ceremony. Mayor Nick Cox said, “I want to wish y’all a merry Christmas. I hope this season is full of joy and happiness and laughter and good times.”

Cydni’s School of Dance then performed, and the hayride gave guided tours through the Historic District, participants enjoyed the Wine Walk and the Reindeer Run, and Brick Street Coffee was serving up hot chocolate and donuts.

Saturday’s festivities included a brunch at Geaux Fresh, hot chocolate at the Broken Bean, a vendor market on Pearl Street, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Warehouse, and ornament crafting at the Dorcheat Museum. That evening,  Amanda Shaw played fiddle at the Civic Center, and the Savior Christmas Concert was performed at First Baptist Church.

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday night with the Christmas parade through downtown Minden followed by a fireworks display. In the parade, TNT Allstars won Best Marching Group, the Minden High School band won Best Band, Living Word of Minden won Spectacular Sparkles, and the Calvary Baptist Church won the Santa’s Award.
