The ecumenical march, which was to take place on MLK Drive on January 15, has been canceled due to forecasted weather. However, all the other events that Mt. Zion CME Church have scheduled will still be taking place. This includes a commemorative service at 3 PM on January 14, a community choir, participation from youth groups, and contests for the youth, including essay and poster competitions. They will also be acknowledging outstanding community leaders with leadership awards. On January 15, there will be an MLK prayer call at noon (accessible at 1-518-425-1766), and a community symposium via Zoom at 6 PM.
This commemorative service and accompanying events will provide an opportunity for the community to join together in reflecting on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy and fostering hope, courage, and unity for the future.
