High school softball: Lakeside gets first win for new head coach

The Lakeside Lady Warriors gave Brittany Frazier Smith her first victory as head coach Saturday.

The Lady Warriors defeated Parkway 13-10 in the Lakeside tournament. Lakeside also fell to Converse 9-3.

Lakeside rallied from a 7-5 deficit after 4 1/2 innings with eight runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The Lady Warriors got seven hits in the inning. Emily Jones capped the inning with a two-run home run to put Lakeside up 13-7.

Mackenzie McCoy and Raleah Harris both went 4-for-5 with two RBI. Both had a double.

Jones went 3-for-3. She also had a double.

Laiklyn Squyres had two doubles and three RBI. Hallie Sutton had a double and two RBI. Izzy Vise also had a double.

McCoy and Rhea Waller both tripled against Converse. Harris doubled.

Minden dropped two games in the Logansport tournament Friday, falling to Quitman 12-4 and Logansport 12-1.

Lizzie Balkom, Kaydree Kemp and Tatum Oliver had doubles against Quitman. Lindsay Ryan had two RBI.

Ryan went 2-for-2 with a double against Logansport.

Minden (2-2) hosts Lakeside (1-3) Monday at 5 p.m.
