High school baseball: Minden shuts out North Webster

Zander Rowell pitched a one-hitter as the Minden Crimson Tide defeated the North Webster Knights 10-0 in six innings Monday at Griffith Stadium.

Rowell, who pitched a perfect game earlier this season, didn’t issue a walk and faced two batters over the limit. The Tide committed one error.

Six Minden players combined for seven hits. Bryson Ranger went 2-for-2 with two RBI. He also walked twice.

Landyn Huddleston had a triple.

Minden (13-6) is scheduled to begin District 1-4A play against Booker T. Washington Friday at 5 at home.

North Webster (10-8) is scheduled to visit Converse Monday.

Elsewhere, Lakeside fell to Loyola 12-1 in five innings in the final game of a three-game District 1-2A series at Lakeside, Glenbrook lost to Cedar Creek 5-1 in Ruston and Doyline dropped a 6-5 decision to Weston in eight innings in the final game of a two-game District 1-B series at Weston.

At Lakeside, the Warriors had four hits. Brock Case had a double.

Loyola, which completed the three-game sweep, improved to 8-13 overall and 5-1 in district. Lakeside dropped to 9-9 and 3-3.

At Cedar Creek, Glenbrook’s Preston Frye and Landry Powell had one double each.

Cedar Creek (10-10) scored three in the first and two in the fourth.

Cougars freshman Kade Luker allowed four hits, struck out nine and walked three.

Glenbrook (8-9) is scheduled to host Homer Friday at 6.

At Weston, Noah Spears hit a grand slam home run with two outs in the top of the seventh to give Doyline a 5-4 lead.

But Weston scored a run on a error in the bottom of the inning. The Wolves won it in the bottom of the eighth on a bases loaded single with no outs.

Weston improved to 12-9 and 2-0 with the two-game sweep. Doyline dropped to 7-8 and 0-2.
