Minden Police investigate theft from Ace Hardware; Two suspects detained

by Minden Press-Herald

Minden Police Lieutenant Griffith initiated an investigation on April 15 regarding a theft at Ace Hardware. The suspect, identified as Melanie E. Hall, 46, of Hodge, Louisiana, was accompanied by Brandon Lee Lowery.

On April 18, Detective Jason Lee detained both suspects during a traffic stop on Fort Street. They were escorted to the police headquarters for further questioning. Lowery admitted during an interview, after being read his Miranda rights, that Hall had taken a belt from Ace Hardware without paying.

Hall also confessed, post-Miranda, that she stole the belt intending to gift it to Lowery. Lowery, however, remarked that the belt didn’t fit him.

Hall was booked for theft, while a warrants check revealed that Lowery was a fugitive from Bossier City with existing warrants from the Bossier Sheriff’s Office.
